This built-in flexibility offered by the device reduces panel costs while minimizing the risk of system malfunctions.

Example Application Scenario: Pressure-Based Cascaded Compressor and Fan Management

Let's assume there are 3 cooling compressors and 2 condenser fans in a central cooling system. With the Frenic HVAC series speed controller, the operating scenario of this system is optimized as follows:

  1. Initial Operation and PID Optimization: The 1st compressor in the system starts running at a variable speed via PID control to achieve the target pressure of 3 bar.

  2. Cascaded Activation: When the pressure level rises to 4 bar due to an increase in the cooling load, the drive starts the 2nd compressor via a contactor. If the pressure continues to rise, the 3rd compressor is also activated at the 4.5 bar threshold.

  3. Cascaded Deactivation: As the environment begins to cool and the pressure drops, the 3rd compressor is deactivated at the 4 bar level; when the pressure drops to 3.2 bar, the 2nd compressor is stopped.

  4. Sleep Mode and Energy Savings: If the cooling load decreases and the system is able to drop the pressure down to 2.5 bar with only one compressor, the system automatically enters sleep mode. By remaining in sleep mode until the pressure rises back to 3.1 bar, unnecessary energy consumption is prevented, and the stable and balanced operation of the system is guaranteed.
